Caregiving is full of practical challenges that no one warns you about. I am Julie Crawshay, and these are some of the tips that helped me most as a Sydney caregiver supporting my husband Nic through glioblastoma.

Keep everything in one place

Appointments, scan results, medications and questions pile up fast. A single folder or document to hold it all reduces stress enormously. My free GBM Caregiver's Resource Guide is built for exactly this.

Bring someone to appointments

Two sets of ears are better than one. Bringing a friend or family member to take notes ensures nothing important is lost, especially when emotions are running high.

Use the support around you

Australian hospitals often have social workers and carer support services — use them. Accept help with meals, transport and childcare. Lean on communities like @the_neuro_farmacist and national charities such as the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.

Protect your own wellbeing

Rest, support and small moments of normal life are not optional extras — they sustain you. Read more in my post on caregiver support services.
