How Julie Crawshay Ran the Sydney Marathon for Cure Brain Cancer

In 2024 I laced up for 42.2 kilometres through the streets of Sydney. I am Julie Crawshay, and I ran the TCS Sydney Marathon for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation — for my husband Nic, and for every Australian family facing glioblastoma.
Running for a cause
I raised funds in support of GBM research, including the GBM AGILE clinical trial. Race number 50829, finish time 4:31:47. It was not about speed — it was about showing up for a cause that had become deeply personal.
The Sydney course and the cause
Running through Sydney, wearing a Cure Brain Cancer Foundation singlet that read "We won't stop until brain cancer does," I was reminded of why this work matters. Strangers asked what it meant. Some shared their own brain cancer stories. Connection happened at every kilometre.
Why I keep advocating
The marathon was one expression of a larger commitment I carry through The Neuro Farmacist. Advocacy and fundraising are how Australian families like mine contribute to a more hopeful future. Read more about Australian brain cancer charities.
