Caregivers are the quiet backbone of every brain cancer journey, and they deserve support too. I am Julie Crawshay, and as a Sydney caregiver myself, I know how vital it is for Australian families to know that help exists.

Support through the health system

Many Australian hospitals have social workers and carer support services that can connect families to practical and emotional resources. Asking your treating team "what support is available for me as a carer?" is one of the most useful questions you can pose.

Community and national organisations

National bodies like Carers Australia and the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation offer resources relevant to caregivers. Peer communities, including @the_neuro_farmacist, provide connection with others who truly understand.

Caring for yourself

You cannot pour from an empty cup. Self-care is not selfish — it is what makes sustained caregiving possible. I write more about this through The Neuro Farmacist and in my practical tips for Australian GBM caregivers.
